Every year, the Foundation finances scholarships for postgraduate studies (Master’s or PhD degrees) in Greece or abroad to students who already are Foundation scholars and hold a degree from a Greek University.

APPLICATION SUBMISSION PROCEDURE

Each year, in May for postgraduate scholarships abroad and in September for postgraduate scholarships in Greece, the Foundation places in Athens and local Ileian press, as well as on its website, a Public Call for applications from candidates who have, in the past, been Foundation scholars.

Candidates must submit an application accompanied by the following supporting documentation:
(a) Certification of Admission to the Master's or PhD degree program for their chosen educational institution.
(b) Copy of their Degree (Ptychion) and official transcripts of their grades; Phd candidates must also submit a copy of their Master's degree.
(c) At least two letters of recommendation from Professors of their undergraduate studies, for Master's degree candidates; Phd scholarship candidates must submit a letter from their thesis advisor.
(d) Candidate's (if available) and parents income tax returns statements for the application's fiscal year, as well as for the previous fiscal year.
(e) Curriculum Vitae

All applications are examined for completeness by the Administration office and are then assessed by the Foundation’s Board.

Final approval, according to the law, is given, subsequent to a concurring and reasoned opinion of the Council of National Bequests, by the Region of Attiki, to whom the Ministry of Finance has transferred the relevant jurisdiction.

The list of successful candidates is posted on the Foundation’s website.

CRITERIA FOR CANDIDATE SELECTION

Candidates applications are assessed primarily on the basis of their degree grade which must be at least eight (8) and on the prestige of the educational institution each candidate has chosen. During the assessment process, candidate academic performance as well as family income will also be taken into account.

SCHOLARSHIP DURATION

Scholarships are granted for a maximum of 2 years for Master's degrees and maximum of 3 years for PhD degrees, and their renewal, at the end of each academic year, depends on candidate academic performance.
Scholars cannot unilaterally suspend a scholarship, while the Foundation reserves the right to revoke or terminate a scholarship grant when it judges that serious reasons exist.

PREREQUISITES FOR SCHOLARSHIP RENEWAL

The following documentation is required to renew a scholarship:

(a) Master’s degree candidates: At the end of the first academic year, scholars must submit to the Foundation an official transcript of their grades and reference letters from two instructors at the educational institution they are attending.
